As part of our school's continuing commitment to integrating technology into the curriculum, we have added Google Chromebooks to the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classes. Students use the Chromebooks as part of their regular instruction in Middle School to facilitate and enrich learning. Students take the Chromebooks home so they can continue to participate in learning activities outside of school hours.
Our teachers have attended training and worked on developing technology-rich lessons to be delivered in a one-to-one environment. Chromebooks, insurance, and accessories are purchased through CTTCS and are some of the items included in the $500 addition to the tuition for the middle school grades. Upon graduation, the students own and keep the Chromebooks.
Students entering 6th grade (and any students tranferring to CTTCS for 7th or 8th grade) will be provided an orientation to the use of the Chromebooks for classes. Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students utilize a shared Chromebook cart and have begun familiarization with the Google suite of tools, thus they will be prepared for the one-to-one technology in 6th grade.
Students in grades K through 2 have access to Chromebook technology in the Learning Commons to introduce them to the use of a computer, typing, and proper care/use of a device.
We are very excited about this opportunity and the learning possibilities it brings to our students.
